The Bonds We Must Burn

Mahmud Nuralizai is the son of Farovistan’s Amir. Nusaybah Hüseynzadə is the daughter of Dağellik’s Shah. They were not supposed to marry each other.

But after the death of Osman, his brother and her husband, the pair are thrusted into a marriage neither wants. Together, they are supposed to become Sultan and Sultanah of the newly-established nation Zahrawi, but both know they are merely puppets for their rival fathers.
Their planned rule is stifled, however, by the Heisengaf Empire, a monstrous starship that has been waging war against them for over a year. And when the Empress’ elite soldiers start hunting Nusaybah, she becomes key to a plan involving ZULEYXA, a superweapon long thought lost.Nusaybah prepares to face Heisengaf head-on and Mahmud fights to protect her. But as they grow closer and become disillusioned with their families’ wants, they realise that both Farovistan and Dağellik may be vying for the superweapon for other reasons—and that their hunger for victory over the other could very well destroy everything.

A More Personal Intro

Where to start?I'm a 22-year-old somebody who never actually thought that she would be doing this—being an author, that is. I've wanted to write books since I discovered Wattpad (yes, I was a Wattpad kid) but struggled to actually do it until a few years ago. Six manuscripts and a lot of long nights later, I have my debut: The Bonds We Must Burn. It almost feels unreal at times.Everything I've written so far, unpublished and to be published, is about Muslims since I like exploring complicated situations from a Muslim POV. I am by no means a scholar—I only converted back in late 2021 and still have a *lot* to learn—but hey, I figured I know more than the random non-Muslims writing about us, am I right?!Anyway, most else about me is already in my bio: I have various hobbies that switch often ranging from drawing, reading, baking, sewing, gaming, and archery; I live in my beautiful home country Aotearoa New Zealand; and my pets never stop harassing me (this includes my pond fish, somehow).
